Bloemenband = Eyebright.
An innovative and loving last flower embrace.
The Artist Jantine Kraaijeveld has been enriching ceremonies for the last good bye since April 2020 with a new product for the funeral industry:
Bloemenband is a tailor-made mourning band made out of textile, which can be attached to an open or closed coffin in a stylish manner.
Read here how about it’s origin:
“During the first Corona wave, I lost seven very dear friends and relatives, including my best friend and my brother, and this in the short time of 14 months… Traditional flower arrangements didn’t feel like the right expression of our grief and compassion.
I felt the urge to show my connection with them and share it with the world.
That’s why I invented and created a band where flowers can be tucked in one by one, ultimately wrapping around them like a last comforting embrace with all the flowers.
During those first funerals, the product proved to have a very healing and connecting effect on the relatives. That was my motivation to use the time during the pandemic to further develop and refine the product.” says Jantine Kraaijeveld.
Bloemenband has been further developed since, and also due to the rapid demand in the last two and half years, the product is now available in different colours, models and fabrics. All bands are custom made in local production places.
Bloemenband can be applied by yourself and filled with flowers of your choice.
Relatives, friends and other guests are invited to personally insert a flower into the band.
Together you create a beautiful flower ritual, a comforting and inclusive gesture for everybody in the ceremony.
Bloemenband can also be used for scattering the ashes.
In that case it can be tied around a tree or another supportive structure at hand.
After the cremation, or can also be ordered for the urn.
Bloemenband may be taken to the final resting place.
At official occasions, such as Memorial Day, Bloemenband can be produced in the colors of the National flag.
