About us
Stichting Rouwkost supports parents surrounding the death of a child with the Parelkoffer: practical information, materials for creating memories, and tools for a period when everything is turned upside down. It is intended for professionals who wish to provide good support to parents, especially during those first, vulnerable moments. When a child dies, parents are faced with an overwhelming amount of stress in a short time. In addition to the grief, choices must be made, while it is precisely then that clarity and stability are often lacking. Stichting Rouwkost supports parents during and after the death of a child with practical information, recognition, comfort, and connection. Central to our work is the Parelkoffer: a carefully curated case for parents who lose their child. The case contains information, materials for creating tangible memories, and tools for the first period following the death. The Parelkoffer was developed to support parents and to provide professionals with something concrete to hold alongside a family. There are now various versions available, including Dutch, English, and culturally sensitive variants. During the VTU Funeral Trade Fair, we would like to show you how the Parelkoffer is used and how Stichting Rouwkost offers support in other ways, including through our buddy project, our knowledge base, and meetings for parents and professionals.
