De Facultatieve
About us
With crematoria and cemeteries throughout the Netherlands, De Facultatieve is locally rooted in the community and a national leader in craftsmanship. As a renowned partner, industry authority, and attractive employer, we continuously invest in the future of the funeral industry. A strong chain that offers peace and security. Everyone has the right to a dignified farewell according to their own wishes. De Facultatieve built the first crematorium in the Netherlands when cremation was still illegal: Crematorium Westerveld, in 1913. At that time, burial was still legally mandatory under the Burial Act of 1869, but the opening was tolerated. We have always continued to fight for freedom of choice and remain committed every day to the rights and wishes of the deceased and their loved ones. We believe that everyone is unique and that, therefore, every farewell must be personal. At De Facultatieve, we do everything we can to fulfill farewell wishes. Whether it concerns burial or cremation, new or old rituals, remembering or celebrating: a dignified farewell according to one's own wishes must be a fundamental right, for all of us. In our crematoria, cemeteries, and funeral homes, we therefore accommodate those wishes. For everyone. The Optional – Quality after life
