AlkaEco is a Dutch manufacturer of systems for alkaline hydrolysis: a dignified, sustainable and fully emission-free alternative to cremation, for both humans and (companion) animals. No fire, no smoke, no CO₂.
Thorough innovation
Our origins lie in research. In 2023 — then still operating under the name Ecoresomation — we took part in the independent TAUW study commissioned by the Dutch government. For years we have provided the Dutch authorities with extensive input and insight into our innovations, and we continue to do so.
Following the TAUW study, we completely redeveloped and innovated our system, with our Energy Recall System at its core. The systems participating at the time were designated by the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) as 'fully matured, with no further innovation potential'. For us, that was the signal to thoroughly innovate the entire installation. The RVO responded with praise and confirmed that the innovation process had been completed — some time after the TAUW study.
In early 2024 we presented our advances to the RVO. The response was unambiguous: "I can see that you have now completed your thorough innovation." Various subsidies and tax benefits were subsequently granted. We will put these new innovations into production as soon as the government's regulations are published — and we would be glad to tell you more about that at the fair.
Since then we have continued as AlkaEco B.V.

It is precisely this earned innovation status that entitles our unit to the RVO innovation subsidy and the tax benefit (up to 60%) — and not the systems that were designated "fully developed" at the time. The RVO explicitly recognised our innovations, and we are proud of that.

Would you like to take the first steps now?
You can. The amendment to the Dutch Burial and Cremation Act (Wet op de lijkbezorging) is expected to come into effect in 2027. We are glad to help you with every preparation surrounding the installation, so that you can start the moment the law changes.
